Our Committees

  • The New Orleans Chapter of the Federal Bar Association is one of the largest in the nation. That doesn’t happen by accident — it’s because of the dedication of our members and Boards, and, particularly, the Membership Committee, which ensures that we stay ahead of the pack.

  • The New Orleans Chapter of the Federal Bar Association publishes The Advocate, an award-winning quarterly newsletter that, along with our social media presence, educates our members, lawyers, and the general public about goings on at the courthouse and the importance of a thriving federal practice.

  • The New Orleans Chapter of the Federal Bar Association is excited to announce its establishment of the Federal Judicial Law Clerk (FJLC) Committee—a group comprised of federal judges, court personnel, current federal judicial law clerks, and former judicial law clerks from both the private and public sectors. The FJLC Committee will develop educational, social, and career-focused programming aimed at integrating current law clerks into our New Orleans FBA community, increase visibility of current issues facing our federal judiciary, and re-connect former law clerks with their FBA membership.

The Committee’s first initiative is to create a local directory to help spread the word! If you or your colleagues are current or former federal judicial law clerks (from any court in the country or any level of the federal judiciary), please complete the form found at https://bit.ly/FBAJudicialLawClerks. The Committee looks forward to meeting you!

  • The New Orleans Chapter of the Federal Bar Association isn’t just about learning, teaching, and outreach—it’s also about fun. The Social Committee makes sure that our members have the opportunity to socialize and network with other lawyers and judges in the area.

  • CLE on important topics and which connects the bench and bar is one of the bedrock foundations of the New Orleans Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. This Committee plans our signature CLEs, including the Malcolm Monroe Seminar, the Alvin Rubin Lecture, and other CLEs throughout the year.

  • For the past five years, the New Orleans Chapter of the Federal Bar Association has been a model for other bars and chapters in its outreach to local high schools and its Justice Camp, which occurs every summer.

  • The New Orleans Chapter of the Federal Bar Association spends substantial time serving the communities of the Eastern District of Louisiana. From outreach to local schools to hurricane relief, the FBA-NO is a responsive and responsible organization in the area.

  • The New Orleans Chapter of the Federal Bar Association operates a Mentorship Program that allows more senior attorneys to take a law student under their wing and assist them in their growth into a federal practitioner.

  • The New Orleans Chapter of the Federal Bar Association has numerous subject matter, administrative, and service committees. From the Civil Pro Bono Panel to the Committee on the Awards given annually by the Chapter, or the Chapter’s Annual Meeting, there are many opportunities for lawyers young and “seasoned” to give back.
