Please join the New Orleans Chapter of the Federal Bar Association on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. for the 31st anniversary of this ethics and professionalism program, a living memorial to Judge Alvin Rubin’s contribution to federal jurisprudence and legal scholarship. The first hour will feature Alan Howard, Partner at Perkins Coie. Alan Howard will talk about the Signal case which involves the largest amount ever awarded in a labor trafficking case, as well as a discussion on the Trafficking Victims Protection Act claims in Georgia against CoreCivic, and the partnership between private firms and public service organizations to handle large, precedent-setting litigation. The first hour will focus on pro bono and professionalism. The second hour will feature Meredith Stewart from Southern Poverty Law Center which was involved in the Signal Case, Professor Dane Ciolino of Loyola University New Orleans College of Law, and Jordan Ginsberg, Assistant U.S. Attorney. They will address ethical requirements and other issues that arise in labor and human trafficking cases. Reception to follow at 4:00p.m.-5:00 p.m.
